Not built like the sweet spot of Hyundai, but still nice
I replaced my 2009 Sonata with a gas Tucson. I miss my old car dearly, but the Tucson is quite nice. Visually very appealing; just enough curves and lines. The cabin is quiet so it's easy to have conversations, even on long drives. Air conditioning works well and quickly in this humid area.
Main cons is the safety features can be as overbearing as a parent. The auto hold I need to turn off as soon as I start the car. Lane assistance isn't always the most helpful. Takes a moment for acceleration to do its thing. I wish the cup holders were bigger for those massive bottles for sports.
But overall, it's a wonderful ride. Excellent trunk space, perfect for people with lots of gear for sports and such. Impressive infotainment system; at first I thought I'd hate having no knobs for volume, but it's fine. I can still control the a/c with knobs. I'm on the shorter side, so I wish the headrests were more comfortable.
Part of it is me getting a new car after nearly 20 years, though, so take that with a grain of salt. I'm hopeful Hyundai will be as reliable today as it was in the past.
