Love my Ioniq 5 -- the perfect bounce around town car

I've mostly just driven it around the Kansas City area, and it is so quiet and comfortable. We've taken 1 road trip, and it was pretty easy to charge it on the road in Des Moines.

Poorly built

We loved our car until it was involved in a minor fender bender that resulted in the car being totaled. Either our car was a lemon or there is such poor design that wiring harnesses are placed near the rear bumper and if you have impact they all become destroyed resulting in over $20k in damage. This is a poor quality vehicle that was hidden behind great features. Hyundai should be ashamed.

Mid level Entry EV

Had high hopes with the limited trim of this model but quality, OTA updates, build quality issues and ICCU issues make this a hard sell to others. Will be searching for replacement options outside of the Hyundai / Kia Family once lease is up.

Great electric car

This is the best car I’ve ever had. Roomy, comfortable, quiet, fast. The software really needs improvement and more frequent navagation updates to make charging on roaf trips easier. The lane centering is poor, but adaptive cruise control is great. The steering feel is too numb, and the car wallows too much on undulating pavement, but ride is great on most roads.

Very Happy

I'm a car guy, 2 Sonatas 22 23 limited hybrids, very happy with them so tried my first Elec car, the ionic is a tank, flies and good on Elec, amazing vehicle started my second year, Very happy I have 2 Linc Town Car 98 Continental 86 Merc Sable 2009 and Honda Civic the Hyundais are great cars

Great car but some troublesome experiences

I have had one recall which was of little impact. One incident was when the car went into "turtle" mode and wouldn't hardly move. I've experienced two incidents with the 12-volt battery. Now, I am presently experiencing a weekend incident of an electrical failure that brought the car to a halt. No battery recharge and it wouldn't start up.

Great family vehicle

Very quick acceleration doesn't get old! Extremely comfortable and quiet to drive and fun in the Sport setting. Suspension and steering don't offer a lot of feedback, so you won't confuse it for a sports car but the speed makes it lively. The inside is... good but has room for improvement. It is very spacious, the electronics package is fine but for the price of this package, I'd like to see some more finished touches like ambient lighting and potentially a moon roof. Those features come with the luxury package, but that is a much more expensive vehicle. Sound system is just okay. Lack of maintenance is fantastic. The stated EV range before a trip can be misleading when you are driving on the highway - that eats up range and it can be disheartening to see the car recalibrate to the highway mileage. The most glaring issue with the car is an odd one - with no rear windshield wiper, visibility out the back window can be a real problem in rain, snow or on dirt roads. Apparently, the window is supposed to be self cleaning with airflow, but this simply does not work.

A Beautiful, Sporty, Fun Ride

I own a 2022 Model Y and the Ioniq 5 is so much better. It's quieter, rides better on the road, seats and way more comfortable. I feel like my range was more predictable too.
