An excellent electric midsized vehicle
I like the car overall. This is my first EV, and in part I am responding positively because I love having an electric vehicle.
Positives:
On the plus size, it is pleasantly quiet, even at higher speeds; it is very fast (0-60 is great) and makes the car safer than otherwise. I appreciate all of the directions of seat adjustment - this was very important to me. In particular, being able to tilt the driver seat down a bit in front is great, and being able to raise the entire driver seat quite high is perfect for a short stature driver. The range has been excellent and honestly better than I expected. I love the very large windshield that allows me to see at a wide angle all around the front of me. The exterior is a cool modern design I like.
Overall, I am happy with the car, though if I had bought it instead of leasing it, I would be less happy; some of the negatives I will list below matter to me so much I will likely look for a different vehicle next time unless these are changed.
Negatives:
The first negative occured when I first had the car. I was not provided with a Level 2 charging cable and my sales person seemed completely incapable of providing me with the info for purchasing a compatible and appropriate charger. I was very worried about this and it seemed I just got lucky that I bought a compatible charger. Please provide the specs for an appropriate charger! We have already a Level 2 outlet so I just needed to plug in, not install one.
The most serious design flaw is the front panel for climate control. I have to take my eyes off the road to change the temp, put on or off the AC, to increase the fan, etc. I adjust these controls very frequently and often find myself stabbing at the panel trying to stay safe while driving. In addition, in the frequent occasions when the sun is on the panel it is entirely invisible, making this problem even more severe and dangerous. I simply won't lease/buy this car if the temp panel is not changed to a more sensible safer design. One more climate thing, my vehicle frequently turns on the AC when I am driving, for no apparent reason. I have been in the set up and on the internet to see how to stop this and everything is set so this should not occur. I find this very annoying, especially when I am driving in 57 degree weather and I want my interior temp around 74. No idea what the car is doing.
I think I would prefer a trunk rather than the hatchback. Things really shift around while driving and I find that pretty annoying. A trunk is safer as well for possessions. Personal preference though, and the auto trunk controls are fantastic.
The cruise control seems linked to the lane assist, and that is frustrating. Also in cruise control mode my sense is that I am getting much worse "mileage"; have to charge more frequently. Not my favorite feature, so I don't drive with it most of the time.
The seats are just not that comfortable. I have ended up sitting on a seat cushion for most drives because after a while it feels too uncomfortable and hard. I have also had complaints about the comfort of the back seats though I have not sat there.
A front camera would be wonderful as the somewhat bulbous front makes it hard to know where the true front is.
I purchased a car with a matte finish without knowing what a pain this is to maintain. I love how it looks but really mind washing it myself in the careful way I have been told I have to do. It's pretty annoying.
I am not a fan of the colors offered. I have seen the light blue matte color and that is great. But the green and blue metallic (normal pain) are very dull and old fashioned - please consider offering some more interesting pretty or fun colors!
I'd like to recommend moving the glove box to the center of the console rather than way on the left. I can barely reach it from the driver's side (OK, I'm only 5'2"). I saw a Volvo with a center console location and that's pretty great.
Two phone chargers would be much better than one...
