Good car but not as reliable as I hoped.

First, the car came with low-profile tires. STUPID! Went through 5 tires in the first 15,000 miles. Replaced with more rubber and smaller wheels. One incident in 35,000 miles since. Very comfortable ride with new bigger tires. The access to the third row is convoluted and impractical. Third row is only accessible to small children and petite women. Driver seat is comfortable and has many practical adjustments. With all the fine accessories, it would have been smart to add a second sun visor (for $50K you should have one). There is overabundance of electronics. Some are quite annoying. My biggest is the camera in the steering wheels that turns off cruise control when you slouch. Reliability: was driving in traffic and somehow the engine did not turn on in ECO mode. The hybrid battery completely run out. I was stuck in the middle of the road. After I turned the engine off and on again, the gas engine finally kicked in started recharging the hybrid battery. Since then it occurred a few times but now I understand the early warning that turns off cruise control and issues warnings. I find that switching to any other mode (sport or snow, for example) starts the gas engine.

Why I Didn't Buy a Santa Cruz

Hyundai's DAW feature is obviously designed for South Koreans. I am 6'2" tall and have to slump down in the seat and act like a bobble doll to keep DAW active. I considered a Hyundai Santa Cruz but the DAW stopped me cold. In addition, the hybrid feature SELDOM activates and when it does, it's for a very short time... on and off, on and off.

Lemon Law

Shift by wire would automatically shift into park on the highway and didn’t let me shift out of park into drive. Needed tow three times.

pretty darn good car

Overall I am satisfied with my vehicle (size, design, comfort) I am concerned that the gas mileage is not optimal.sometimes the car stutters when starting out after a longer time having been parked. The warning system coud be improved - the "consider a break" warning is way too sensitive.

My car review

1.6 engine is not enough. 2.5 would be better. 3rd row seat needs to 2- 4 inches higher for adults. Auto shutters when open has big opening and it's dangerous if debris or small rock gets inside and can damage radiator or air conditioner condenser. Would be good if it had walk away furniture, when 3' away it looks it self. Don't like whenever get close to back of the car it's trying to open the rear door even if you don't needed. Would be better to swing under the car with the foot to auto open rear door

Overall a very good vehicle from drive and storage

The car drives nicely and the safety features and heads up display are excellent. The overall gas mileage is a little disappointing. The are improvements to be made to infortainment system and overall electronics items. You should be able to open / close garage without having to turn the vehicle to fully on state (accessory mode would be fine). Same for rolling up / down windows. Just this week the infotainment system went "silent" on me on a long vacation drive. Two hours of silence (but the road noise was minimal - that was a positive. I had to go search youtube to find what others had done to fix it. Now I know. I've put 33k miles on in the first two years of ownership.

Manufacturer Defect: Transmission

My 2024 hybrid Santa Fe was diagnosed with a crack in the transmission at just shy of 30k miles. This was identified as an obvious manufacturer’s defect. While the repair is covered by warranty, I have lost faith in the quality of Hyundai vehicles. Also, the tires for the Santa Fe frequently get punctured and/or lose air. The car is too heavy and the tires seemingly not rugged enough.

Awesome fuel economy and ride! Electronics are a miss.

This has been a great car for me. It rides very smooth and the safety features were great. The fuel economy is double what I’m used to in my pick up truck. The only thing holding me back from five stars is the software. My blue link still doesn’t work despite working with customer service to try to fix it. My phone connects strange sometimes if at all.

Almost Great!

The biggest problem with this vehicle is that many it would not turn on and would go straight to N or P and I would have to turn it off and wait a minute or so to get it to start. The mechanic could not find what the problem was and they reset it, but it continued to do the same. It REALLY was not safe, and we had to trade it in. We were hoping Hyundai would have considered it a lemon. We took it in several times.

I love my Santa Fe. My best ride ever!

This car has just perfect. Great design, wonderful features and comfort in all 6 seats. Bit to mention that I average 40mph and have gotten as much as 60mpg with this hybrid. I do wish that it had done a better job with the Bluetooth. That would be the only thing that need improvement. I have an Android and thought perhaps it was my phone. Then linked an iPhone and that sounded just the same, as though I am muffled and under water.
