No issues

The interface is redundant, clunky and cumbersome. Hyundai has found a way to make every single function take as many clicks as possible- if someone wants to change profiles, just let them click and select their name (instead of wasting everyone's time asking so they have to click again and again). It is 2025- why am I being prompted every single day or week to download updates on a computer then put a USB into my car to upload the maps? Why are there so many variants of the main screen and none of them work for what you need? I am constantly cycling through Media, Nav, Maps, etc to find individual pieces of information that shouldn't be so hard to find. When you are in the middle of navigation, there is no button to return to the in progress navigation. If you go to Media to change a song or something, you cannot get back to the map without just clicking a bunch of buttons and praying, because if you click "Nav" again, you are being prompted to start a new navigation. Nobody needs half the amount of buttons and options and clicks that are required, and it is a SAFETY issue to distract a person like this. There is ZERO ease of use. It is appalling and I intend to sell the vehicle and move on because it is such a nuisance. Another safety issue was the several times I searched for charging stations and ended up at places that did not have any EV chargers and appeared abandoned for a long time. I had to then search for other locations and hope my battery didn't die on the way. Then I searched those areas and learned on Google Maps that other Hyundai drivers had the same issue. I like the appearance and handling but it is NOT worth continuing down this road.

Nice car when it works

The ioniq 5 is a comfortable, stylish, and quick EV that is fun to drive, but will occasionally leave you stranded when the 12V battery dies without warning.

Ionic 5 Review

Blind spot monitoring is extremely irritating and not helpful. It is borderline dangerous. Also rattling tailgate and lack of follow-through within the service center in Roseville is non existent. Also, 12 volt battery looses juice to easily and has left me stranded.

Good with a few reservations

Overall love thr car - had a 12v go bad early put a better one in and now cart a booster. The rear window is a dirt magnet and that’s a pain in winter.

Needs some improvements

Back windshield needs a wiper. Lights and wiper controls need to glow or light up after dark. Need to be able to use the door locks when you leave the car. Hit door lock and then shut the door and it's locked. Now you have to use the fob or hold your finger on the door handle which doesn't work if all doors aren't shut . Seats are narrow. My husband hates the seats

The car is good

We bought this car for our small family at a similar price to another crossover we liked, but it was gas powered. This car being electric, and having lower maintenance costs, feels like a good deal. My quibbles are mostly small or trade-off. The car feels too wide, but is roomy on the inside. Though things like the door seals not staying put is a bit of a nuance.

No good reason not to buy an EV!

I don't care about the price of gas anymore! Love that I am riding on fresh sunshine instead of the stale old stuff that produced oil. Love that sunshine is renewable and clean. Waiting for the rest of the world to catch up.

Mostly great

Car is amazing. Great features, handles well, and is roomier than it looks at first glance. The ongoing issue with the ICCU, which essentially disables the charging system, is unacceptable. I’m currently waiting for a new ICCU (dealer says about a month) after it was updated in two previous recalls. Hyundai needs to figure this out.

Not what you think!

I have had this vehicle since 23', and now i cant wait to get rid of it, have been through 8 different recalls that lasted over 4hrs each time, not a vehicle for families!

Almost Perfect

A great vehicle overall. The styling and confort can’t be beat. However, EV’s have some drawbacks. I cannot count how many times I forget to plug it in and had to be extremely careful. The visibility out the rear window isn’t great as someone determined that windshield wipers were not necessary on this vehicle.

Ioniq 5 review

Every year I have to get tires balanced as car wobbles at speed of 55 and above. According to the technician there is some problems with tire but delaer can not do anything. Did report this to Hyundai after it was repaired second time by dealer. Did not get proper response. Asking me to wait till that happens again. Twice in 2 years is not sufficient for them.
