Great car with a few flaws

Good things: Efficient, quiet with respect to road noise, smooth ride, great styling in and out for the most part. Tons of room and adjustability with the front and back seats and hatch. Good acceleration even with having the rwd version, I really appreciated being sent a complimentary NACS plug adapter since the 2023 models have the ccs type plug. The bad: corrective steering can feel very aggressive at times to the point of feeling almost dangerous. maybe not enough margin is given on where in the lane you can be before it decides to activate. Can feel like I am fighting it for control of the steering and i have to toggle it off at times. The capacitive buttons on dashboard are ok, but I would prefer a few more physical buttons and appreciate the ones that are there. Driver side door rattle has been annoying as has trunk rattle and sounds like an issue many may have had to deal with. Slight anxiety about potential ICCU blowout. Had to replace the original 12v battery after only 15 thousand total car miles; hoping this isn't a trend. Needs a rear wiper (I know this has been fixed at this point for newer models). Overall I love my car and plan on driving it until the wheels fall off.

Ioniq 5 is amazing

I love my ev ioniq5. I dont love 5 recalls in 2 years. I dont love that i was for ed to drive 140 mile one way for the blasted recalls. That being said this car is best ev i have seen its its price range. No rear windshield wiper really stinks. But I still love the car.

Impressive package, a few criticisms

I'll be brief because I don't like to spend a lot of time doing this for free. Hyundai can pay me. So this is an impressive platform, lots of room due longer wheel base. Looks super cool, nice range, charges super fast. Now the complaints, why not a frunk? My model Y has one and I use it all the time. Why doesn't have over the air updates like Tesla, in 2 years the software looks dated already, navigation is bad, needs work. No trip planing using super chargers, no automatic battery pre conditioning. This is a huge one, why put a star button in an EV? Makes no sense and it cost money. Another big one, the phone connection is trash, I wish it would unlock the car at proximity like Tesla but no, you have to take the phone of your pocket, load the app, put it in the wireless charger, just remove the feature if you won't do it right. In a good note, comfort and build quality is amazing at the price point.

Good car with minor defects

Fairly large car with comfortable seats, lots of power and good handling. The range is good, on average. Collision warnings are excellent. I love the energy recovering feature when slowing down without actually braking. However, there are some weaknesses: The lane-holding feature does not work well, recognizes curves too late and undulates in a straight lane. The brakes keep squeaking from the first day on, worse after 4 weeks of not driving. There is a rattling sound from the rear left interior whenever the car passes over a small bump on the road (loose cables in the wheel well?).

A joy to drive

My Ioniq 5 is just plain fun to drive. The suspension makes handling on winding roads a dream. Wherever I go, people ask me if I would recommend my vehicle over those made by another well-known EV company and the answer is always "YES!" I've even been known to bring people along on short test rides which never fail to generate smiles.

Comfortable, quiet, fast, handles well

I would give 5 stars except for the ICCU failure. My car was recalled 3 times for this problem and the recalls failed to fix the problem and car became inoperable. Took Hyandai 1 month to fix my vehicle. Response from Hyundai Customer Service was wholly inadequate and no significant compensation was given for the loss of use of my vehicle for 1 month.

Great overall driving car

Great handling and driving the 2023 Ioniq 5 SEL. It’s very comfortable (faux leather seats and trim). Very impressive viewing through all the windows with very good visibility through the rear window.

Great car... but terrible dealership experience

My only issue is that when there is a recall or i need service the wait is extraordinary and I am told I need to take a day off work basically to get anything done. I would otherwise be thrilled but now I need to move on to another brand

A few concerns to the 2023 Ioniq 5 Limited

The 2023 Ioniq 5 Limited was pretty equipped with everything that is needed from a modern EV vehicle point of view, except the following few things: 1) Wireless AA/Carplay wasn't being offered in my model year. I heard that Korea was able to turn on this feature via wireless update so hopefully this can happen to the US version as well. 2) ICCU has been a concern and I hope that a resolution can be reached on this issue. 3) Tire sealant system for flat tire that came with the car was actually causing more harms after using it. I ended up taking out the foam core inside the tire such that the car doesn't "shake" at a speed of 60mph as the foam core inside the tire got bunched up from soaking up the sealant. 4) Rear windshield wiper wasn't being offered in my model year and I found that could be super useful especially during the rainy season.
