Very fun but there have been issues.

I love Hyundai, I think they are on the right track for electrical vehicles. I’ll probably get another one but there have been issues - I will be test driving other vehicles.

Hyundai 2023 IONIQ 5

The vehicle's looking OK and above average performance. The vehicle should have more camera at front and preset garage opener remote and also the cruise control system needs to have at least 3 levels of distance of the car that's running before us. I'm scare when the sale person gave me the test drive with cruise control on because it's too close to the front car.

Excellent EV choice after losing our ICE vehicles

We lost our pasenger vehicles - a 2007 Chyrsyler Pacifica and my beloved 1996 Acura Integra GSR to a house fire on March 29, 2023. The insurance payment did not come close to their replacement cost so we decided to combine them for purchase of a new vehicle when our rental allowance ran out in May. We couldn't be more pleased with our Ioniq 5. It is extremely comfortable and the many fine engineering touches makes driving a genuine pleasure. The pickup and pep remind me of the joys I had driving my classic Integra. We enjoyed 2 years of free charging at Electrify America that got us started with battery electric vehicle life - we arranged for a level 2 charger at our temporary lodging which is now in the garage of our new home. Our only "issue" has been a 12V battery we had to replace around 25K miles and it was replaced under warranty. On a recent road trip I discovered the fully variety of (pay) CCS charging options and I am expecting a free adapter from Hyundai to enable use of NACS (Tesla) chargers. Home charging gives the vast majority of our miles, is SO convenient and very economical. What was a unexpected push and leap into the unknown - couldn't have landed better.

The best car I've owned to date

I absolutely love this car. It's medium sized yet incredibly spacious. My husband is 6'3 and fits in the car with plenty of room to spare. The back seats recline a bit for comfort which is great. The get-up-and-go is amazing, especially when merging onto a highway. The touchscreen functionality and digital features are top notch. I live never knowing what gas costs. The only minor drawback is that my teenager wishes there were more air vents in the backseat.

Great car, some annoying flaws

Overall the experience with this car has been amazing. Great driving, good mileage and comfortable. The 12V battery is a disaster. It has failed on me at least 4 times in like 5 months I have the car. I had to buy a battery starter and left it inside the car for emergencies which is very inconvenient.

Absolutely love this car

We really could not be more pleased with this car. We have driven it from the Florida Keys to Ottawa Canada, with stops at 36 Electrify America stops in between, and it has been super-easy to have an EV. There are a few minor inconveniences like the 12V battery dying too soon and the infotainment system is a bit kludgy, but I would give this car (the 28th different car I have owned in my life) a 99 out of 100 score!! We even got our next door neighbors to buy one because they liked driving our so much when they borrowed it.

Drives like a luxury car but can't shake the worry of ICCU failure.

Very comfortable and responsive to drive. Awesome features on the Limited line. Missing rear wiper and curse of ICCU failures are only downsides.

Really like, fun to drive, quick, quirky and cheaper than an ICE car

I like the vehicle design and performance. Both exterior and interior designs are different from the norm and draws attention. The interior materials are quite nice and the seat adj allow both wife and I to be comfortable. It is quick off the line and I like the selectable regen levels. It is cheap to operate and low maintenance. I would like map updates more often especially showing charging stations updates.

Smooth, comfortable, and fast

I like almost everything about the Ionic 5. As mentioned comfortable, smooth ride, and accelerates quietly and quickly. It takes a while to learn all the ins & outs of the instrument panels, but once that is achieved it has been a pleasure. There are negatives. The extremely inflated mileage which is consistent with the entire automobile industry, but in an all electric car it can be a true source stress. Gas car you pull in at the next station, at this time that isn't as easy with a EV. The rear window not having a wiper should be a criminal offense. It is constantly obscured because all dirt, rain, snow run down the window and lay on the glass totally blocking the view out of that window. Obviously that was realized and corrected in the 2025, leaving the rest of guessing what is behind us...

Great look and drive. Quirky climate control buttons, need rear wiper!

Great drive as it is quiet and smooth. The battery has decent range but it faces questionable reliability. The climate control buttons need to be improved as well it needs a near window wiper.

Good EV

Great looking and driving vehicle except the sensor design is too finicky. They are too sensitive most of the time and do not respond at other occasions. The lift gate opens when just walking past it sometime and have to wait long on other times. The head rest does not adjust for short driver or for female height

Amazing car with a major flaw

The car is amazing, but with a serious issue that has caused it to be undrivable twice on a 2 year old car. The most recent time it stopped accelerating completely and without warning on the interstate in rush hour traffic and all I have been told repeatedly after multiple inspections is that it performs as designed. Obviously this is until it completely doesn't and doesn't store any error codes.
