Excellent car with a few design flaws

This car is so great, but why is there no rear windshield wiper? And why cant you open the charging port from inside the car? And why isnt the passenger seat adjustable electronically?

Great, other than ICCU failure

I have generally been really happy with my IONIQ 5, until I had an ICCU failure a couple months ago. The replacement took several weeks, and more concerningly, I started reading online about how pervasive the problem is, including other owners reporting repeated failures. I was lucky that mine failed during charging; I am nervous that it could fail again on the freeway. A relatively minor issue is that I find the proximity sensors occasionally very sensitive/noisy. I mostly just use CarPlay for the infotainment. That can also be a bit flaky at times.

Comfortable fun and very safe vehicle

Very happy with the vehicle overall I highly recommend the Hyundai icon 5 it's quick on the takeoff easy to change lanes with the side view cameras overall a very comfortable safe vehicle to drive

Nice car.

I really enjoy this car. The app could be better, and sometimes scheduled charging does not work. It would be nice if Hyundai would send me the NACS adapter that has been advertised for over a year. Despite that, it is my favorite car I have ever owned.

Great car except for ICCU

I love this car. Smooth ride, great acceleration, quiet and fast charging until 4 months ago when it t would not charge on AC current. I waited 3 months for an ICCU replacement.

Beautiful but stops accelerating on highway

Car is beautiful but it stops accelerating when driving on the highway for over 3 hours when driving over 55 mph. I’ve taken it in but they can’t find anything wrong with it.

Overall a great car

Hard to find fault with this car. It drives nicely, has great driver assistance technology, good range (though less in the cold), charges quickly and is very comfortable. Only real criticism is the strange lack of a rear wiper - the rear window quickly gets covered by dust/dirt/rain and becomes useless.

VIP-level features but bad big battery and 12v battery experiences

Had lots of great experiences but not being able to charge car, having 12v issues, being stranded, having low eMPG (228 on full charge) makes it an expensive paperweight.

ionq5 2023 review

Generally happy with the vehicle, though a few rough edges. Wish that the user config changes would happen faster, and support more saved configs than just seat and radio. Sometimes it takes a long time (1-2min) for the user switch to happen. Wish there was a way to keep i-pedal on as default, and not always reset to re-gen 3 when car turned off. And biggest complaint is not being able to disable the reverse collision stopping. We have a bike rack attached to the car, and every time we back up, the collision alert engages and slams the car to a stop. So we always have to step through 4-5 menus on the screen to reach the disable setting. and this resets every time the car is turned off. Very annoying, to the point of considering turning the car.
