Experienced ICCU failure that left us without a vehicle for 7 weeks.

We leased this vehicle as a trial run for EVs. It was a base model and although it did not have many of the features that my wife would have preferred we found it comfortable easy to drive, and easy to charge at home. Unfortunately after about one year we began to experience a series of electrical system issues including decreased charging capacity, failure of the 12 volt battery, and ultimately failure of the ICCU. We were left without a vehicle for seven weeks and the dealer had loaner for us for the first six weeks of this period. At the time that the repair was completed the dealer did come forward with a very attractive lease by by back/trade offer which we took advantage of to upgrade to a 2025 Ioniq 5 Limited. We can only hope that it does not experience similar issues.

Overall really like it

Car is really good. The biggest negative is the lacking of a rear windshield wiper. I don’t know who thought that was a good idea. You really cannot see our the rear windshield when it rains. A serious safety concern. I like how quickly it charges. I wish the car had more range. If you only charge to 80% (as they recommend), then effectively your range is only ~200 miles. And if you have a strong headwind, much lower. I wish the CarPlay gps directions could merge with car navigation system.

Near perfect vehicle for it's price

The car is near perfect. Love the eye-catching style and performance. Range has never been a problem. Great charge speeds. Besides minor gripes, mostly related to an unintuitive infotainment system, the vehicle itself is almost perfect.

Overall I have been happy with my car. The rear window is unsafe in rain fog and snow. My wireless charging port does not work. I can not use my voice activated phone calls

Great car, good experience, minor annoyances

Car drives great, feels safe and sporty at the same time, functions as hoped. Dealer has been typically good to deal with - they understand the car, but occassionally suggest expensive solutions. The Electrify America charging was a great program for us and helped us get comfortable with road trips in an EV. Primary complaint is the USB jack for Carplay in the front is not capable of maintaining a connection; we've given up on it and just use a bluetooth connection. Carplay was a very convenient feature when we could use it.

Fun car to drive, driver’s seat very adaptable, wish range was greater

The Ioniq 5 allows me to drive as though I’m driving a stick shift by my using the one pedal driving ability to control speed and braking as I would use a manual transmission to downshift rather than the brake pedal to slow the car. This gives me good control. It is comfortable and very quiet, and the driver’s seat variability in position accommodates well the significant difference in height between my wife and myself - we each can get a good setting. Its acceleration is phenomenal. I wish the range were more - ours is about 230 miles at most and usually less depending on weather and speed. It does have an annoying creak in the rear hatch that has not been fully fixed despite numerous attempts by Hyundai over the past 2 years. Finally, many strangers come to me in parking lots to find out what kind of car it is because of its distinctive styling.

Best of all cars owned

Over the 60 years of my car ownership, I’ve owned over two dozen cars. My Ioniq 5 is the very best of all of them. To be honest, I usually find myself thinking about what my next vehicle purchase will be almost as soon as I start the latest new car ownership. It’s been over two years now and I have had no thoughts of driving anything else. There’s a real sense of satisfaction for me to sit in the driver’s seat and that continues every time I’m in it.

OK worked great at times and at times not so well.

Overall good car, good mileage with charges. Rides fairly smooth and comfortable enough. However I think I got the car before the kinks and irregularities were worked out. I had some stupid issues with the car and I feel like it could've been worked out if they had more time to fix them properly.

Love this car

There isn’t much I don’t love about this car. It’s responsive, fun to drive and has a lot of safety features built in. It has plenty of storage and the range is great. I still enjoy driving this car after 2.5 years and would easily get it again.

Sport car thrills at less than economy car operating costs

The range is more than I need for day to day driving. I charge it at home about 6 or 7 times a month. It accelerates effortlessly when needed. The maintenance needs are limited to tire rotations. The car is always a pleasure to drive. I also enjoy driving past the crowded gas stations.
