An excellent vehicle, a few choices are maddening & frustrating.
The Ioniq 5 overall is a pleasure. The drive is pleasant, shutting out most outside noise while absorbing many of the potholes and roughness of driving through the City. However, there are several aspects of the car that either feel like inadequate thought was put into them or corners were cut. The lack of a rear windshield wiper was, overall, the worst design choice possible and truly inconceivable. However, the little ridge over the back window is also annoying because it prevents proper washing of the back windshield at the carwash but does not actually serve any seeming purpose. The lack of wireless support for Android Auto also feels as though corners were cut.
The Hyundai Blue link system is inferior to Android Auto and removes several features - especially the dash map - that other automobiles that rely predominantly on Android as their operating system, provide. It seems like this was done solely to try to force people to buy Bluelink subscriptions after the fact.
Hyundai had an opportunity to use this early prowess in the EV space to guarantee all future EVs I purchase would be Hyundais. Instead, while nothing was insufficient enough to prevent me from considering a Hyundai, enough felt overlooked or intentionally omitted that I will be looking at other brands as well.
