Car left me stranded

Even though I like the car it didn't deliver on its most basic function. Going from point A to point B. Some module broke in the electrical system and left the car undrivable. This resulted in me not being able to go to work. I have a Tesla with over 130k miles on it and has never left me stranded. It's a shame because this car had potential but a newer car with less than 36k miles shouldn't brake down like this and take weeks, maybe even months to repair.

Trunk rattles

I brought the vehicle in for service to fix a creaking trunk and it still makes the noise. I hoped it would stop as the weather warmed after they did the fix and it still hasn’t meaningfully improved. Also hitch installation is both a huge pain and very expensive. Otherwise I love the car. It’s very spacious, charges fast and is very convenient for my day to day driving.

Unreliable car

The electrical system failed; this is a problem that Hyundai knew about and yet did not issue a recall. The 12 volt battery failed.. Both of these happened with fewer than 20K miles on the car. There is no rearview windshield washer.

My opinion so far

I’ve enjoyed many aspects of my Ioniq 5, but after this experience I don’t think I will return to a fully electric vehicle. I live in Western Maryland, where we have a humid continental climate with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. Temperatures can range from around -1°F in the winter to over 100°F in the summer, and the mountainous terrain combined with cold weather significantly impacts battery range. While the Ioniq 5 has been a good vehicle overall, I miss the convenience of being able to refuel a gas vehicle in under five minutes rather than waiting 30 minutes or more to charge. Because of the climate and terrain in my area, I plan to move to a gas-hybrid vehicle when my lease is up.

Very nice handling... quiet, surprisingly fast

Two major gripes... no driver seat memory settings and no rear window wiper. Ridiculous. (I knew about the lack of wiper when I got it, but did not appreciate how badly the rear window gets dirty so easily). Driver door switch failed at less than 8000 miles.... making the car nearly unsafe to drive. Several weeks to diagnose and replace.

Great vehicle with many features

Would be nice to have a longer lasting battery. If I could get guaranteed 350 miles on a full charge that would be ok. And quicker charging.

Software need improvement

The car doesn’t automatically lock on exit The rear doors don’t unlock automatically sometimes. Compared to a Tesla, the software’s quite frustrating.

Reliable and fun to drive

This is my first all electric vehicle and I am very happy with it. I primarily drive it around town, but take it on a few road trips each year. The battery capacity is on the smaller end at 225-240 ish miles on a full charge so around town it’s perfectly adequate. It does require 1 or 2 charging stops each way though when I travel out of town.

The car is generally great. It would be improved with manual buttons or turning knobs for climate fan, heat/cool. It’s windshield wipers well is too deep beyond the hood making snow gather and turn to ice damaging wipers. This is poor design. Anything that can be done to improve cold weather battery power would be a great improvement.

Fantastic but needs few changes

I love my car, however not having a rear windshield wiper has proven to be unsafe. The other issue is that the display that shows if a/c is on and what is the fan speed is too light and very difficult to see.
