An EV is perfect for around-the-town driving. They make road trips, especially to rural areas, lengthy and frustrating due to lack of charging stations and the frequent need to charge the vehicle. If you want to use heat or AC while driving, the MPG drops quite a bit. My insurance and registration nearly doubled, which was a large expense I wasn't prepared for. I already spent more money than I wanted to install a Level 2 charger in my garage. The best parts of the car are the amazing acceleration speed, the # of cameras for parking assist, the smooth, quiet ride and the ability to set the color of the interior lights. I do wish it had a rearview window windshield wiper.

Frustrating Issues

The vehicle is fine but there are several things I didn't like. I don't think backseat vents should be only on the higher trim models. That is a BASIC feature every car I've seen has. It has been extremely frustrating as we have a child that sits in the back seat and was either too hot or too cold many times. There was literally a constant beeping that happened any time the car was on. It was not due to any alert or alarm. It came from the front of the vehicle. I'm guessing under the hood. The climate start would warm up the car but then when you would turn on the vehicle the vents would push out cold air. That makes no sense. I have had other electric vehicles before and maybe my standards were too high but this one was overall disappointing.

Great car but a few problems

The car has driven flawlessly, but there were a few unexpected problems: (1) The dealer improperly replaced the scratched windshield by failing to properly attach the rain sensor to the new windshield, (2) A serious rattle developed in the rear hatch, which was apparently the subject of a dealer recall notice, for which I was never advised, and (3) The placement of the rear view camera is such that it it develops rain drops that obstructs visibility during and after rain (the drips from the rear hatch fall directly onto the camera lens). Otherwise, I would have given the car a 5 Star rating. It is a pleasure to drive.

Superb vehicle with right size range and zip

Interior is very comfortable. All the information is easy to read and accesss Plenty of legroom in the front and back. Trunk is plenty space for normal activities: groceries, shopping, week long travel Visibility is great. Love the camera overlay on rear view mirror. Love the turn side video when the turn signals are used. Some quirkiness with locks on doors. Sometimes I find doors unlocked, automatic detection and door opening are not consistent. Software upgrade happened any time even when driving No mechanical or electrical issues. Battery range was about 320 miles. Very fast charging even at a 120v home plug point. Never used the level2 or fast charging Regret signing a lease instead of buying it outright

Very Pleased

I leased this vehicle and then bought it out from the lease before the lease expired. Great vehicle! It's comfortable, handles well, has plenty of power when needed and all the electronics are intuitive and functional.

One of the best cars I have had.

The driving experience is excellent and comfortable. Charging has been a breeze and having the Tesla charging adapter has made long distance driving worry free.

Almost great

Charging speed is awesome. Car in general is very good and fun to drive. The suspension could use a little improvement. Tends to float a little sideways on larger bumps. At highway speeds this could be dangerous. The lack of rear wiper and the squeaky rear hatch are annoying. Also, the doesn't seem to be any heat or cooling vents for the back seats.

Ionic 5 2024

Charging unit problem but was fixed at no cost, though I lost use of the vehicle for two weeks. Also, the rotors went after just 12,000 miles. Unacceptable. Small vibrating noise from trunk hatch. Vehicle has been good other than those issues. Will likely get another one or a Lucid upon lease expiration. Price, reliability and range are my key considerations.

Tax advantages

I cannot reap any tax advantages on my car from the IRS because my 2024 Ionic 5 was not completely assembled in the US. Since the big push to use EVs was and is still in effect, is it possible for you to get them to change that?

Overall good car

Overall the Ioniq 5 is a good car. It's comfortable, easy to drive and big enough to put several people plus luggage or other big items. The reliability on my specific vehicle has not been good. It was in the shop for ~7 weeks during a 6 month period for multiple electrical issues. Some one time, some recurring.

Fun to drive

I drive the car most of the time for my daily errands. The car is fun to drive. It has speed and agility. I’ve only had a few issues . . . There’s no windshield wiper on the back so you can’t see out the back when it’s raining. The back rattles in cold weather. The trunk doesn’t open all the way sometimes. The car remote buttons don’t work anymore & the car app isn’t user friendly so I stopped using it. I get up & do everything manually.

Overall great electric small SUV

Drives well, comfortable, feels safe. Ongoing Bluetooth connection problems. Needs a direct button to warm battery prior to charge, not go through navigation. Needs to be retrofitted with rear wiper. Missing heated seats in the back. Button there but it’s not on the vehicle.

2024 Ioniq 5 never again

Never again had it now for about 1.6 years. except for exterior styling this car is not worth it charging at low 60s and below is terrible slow even with pre-conditioning turn on; even in summer max is 244 for a 800 V car not impressive I-Pedal can’t be left on permanently some of the things I have issues with might not be only this model - Display (instrument cluster) is terrible – can I get the 5N version; speed indicator is hidden behind my left hand and not in center Wipers in back needed Door locking when leaving – at least setup for away from garage Better side mirrors (view is too limited) -worst ever Add more drivers with own profile (5 + guest); driver memory doesn’t include seats CarPlay is only available via usb cable and not in center console; Can’t permanently turn off AC /Heater (e.g. Spring and Fall) - will turn on by itself Front seats have no cooling, backseats neither cooling or heating Whole 2 paddle regenerative braking shifter system behind steering wheel messed up Lane control is unusable (straight works but curves or exits bring havoc) Phantom braking
