Horrible Battery Undermines Otherwise Great Car
Would never recommend this model year. The battery capacity started decreasing within 3 months of driving the car of the lot. Started at about 240 miles and decreased to about 180 miles. Hyundai technicians tried to blame driving habits. Two things - 1) we drove the car the same throughout so it wouldn’t have decreased, it would have been immediate, 2) driving habits have no impact to the fully charged capacity of the battery. They affect the battery life (higher speeds, A/C), but they do not affect the ability of the battery to fully charge.
The service group was generally understanding, but the technicians would simply say they’d ‘reset’ the system. Why would they need to reset the system if there was nothing wrong, if it was our fault? They have had numerous complaints about this similar battery problem but pretend like it doesn’t exist. It’s disappointing as we took a risk on buying a Hyundai and it failed.
