My Painful Journey

1. The car was sold on 3/16/2024 to me by Jenkins Hyundai on Thorton Road while safety recall notice was in effect. Technically illegal but they didn't care. 2. Bluelink didn't work and salesmen was clueless as to how to fix it. I spent many hours and calls to him with no result. 3. 2nd Key fob was lost at Jenkins and had to wait more than 2 weeks to get it. Jenkins also didn't check tire mobility kit which had exploded in packaging and had to replace it. Again took several emails and calls to get this resolved. 4. I was so disgusted with the lack of interest in Jenkins dealership I opted to contact Potamkin Hyundai in Stone Mountain to do the safety recall as well as software updates that fixed Bluelink. After recall had been completed, car stopped working(4/10/2024) . Car was only 3 1/2 weeks old with 518 miles at that point. Jenkins dealership refused to have it towed to them. New dealership (Potamkin Hyundai Stone Mountain)allowed us to have it towed and discovered drive motor had failed. Took at least a month to get new drive motor (supply issue with Hyundai USA not Potamkin) and other parts and then have it installed. Thankfully Potamkin provided free loaner car. 5. After numerous complaints to Hyundai USA both by me and Potamkin Hyundai, the best Hyundai USA would do was $500. Also offered to buy back car at current bluebook value which was not acceptable given all that had happened and that car was only 3 weeks old. Certainly not what I had hoped for due to the fact that by Federal law the car shouldn't have been sold without the recall being done before leaving lot as well as all the other items listed above. All in all very unpleasant and frustrating experience.

Still getting accustomed

It is a lot of fun to drive around town. It is the most comfortable car I’ve been in and I love the Disney theming. However, fast chargers are not as plentiful as I would like. Lots of slow charging but without access to all chargers makes driving distances not as easy

A Wonderful Car

It's everything I want in a car and more. This is my first electric car and i couldn't be more thrilled. The ride is quiet and smooth. It's easy to maneuver and has excellent acceleration. The driving assist features make me feel safe. The back-up camera has a very wide lens and catches every possible hazard, and while will still reflexively look over my shoulder before changing lanes, the blind spot alert system is excellent. I'm still a little nervous when planning a trip but the uncertainty and slowness of charging on the road is nothing compared to the fact that I don't feel like I'm polluting the world. The appearance of a car isn't important to me, but friends and strangers often comment on the beauty of my Ioniq 5, and a compliment is always nice to hear. I'd lease it or buy it again in a second.

Love the vehicle. Concerned about the ICCU issue.

I absolutely love driving my 2024 Ioniq 5 Limited however I am hesitant to drive it long distances and/or congested areas due to the ICCU issue. There was a recall to fix the issue but some are still having sudden loss of power and I can't risk my family when I have other means of transportation.

Great short range vehicle.

Great short range vehicle. Smooth ride and very quiet. Only downside is the mileage range is not as advertised. It's way shorter than what shows on dashboard.

My first EV. Great car but charging infrastructure is an issue.

I have been using this car for over a year and have had no performance issues. The mobile app and the charging infrastructure are probably some areas that it could be improved, but that app works fine most of time. Free charging for 2 years, and state and federal incentives made it's great deal vs a Tesla car.

Well designed EV with some room for improvements

Joining an Ioniq 5 group on Facebook was a terrible mistake because now I just worry about my ICCU failing. It is a big disappointment to hear all the stories of failures and the lack of support from Hyundai for the replacement of the part and use of a vehicle for owners. In spite of my paranoia, the car is comfortable, quiet, and easy to drive. I'm happy with the range and the features of the Limited. Coming from a Model 3, I was surprised by the software and programming available in the Hyundai like route planning and mapping to charging stations, battery pre-conditioning, and lane-keeping. I love the air-cooled seats and heated steering wheel, features not available on my Tesla.

Comfy, safe, very well designed

Love the car! I would have given it 5 stars but it's just a little too big and no rear windshield wiper. Heating/cooling system is a bit difficult to figure out. Haven't even tirid the paddles for regen braking yet after 4 months.

Stylish and comfortable SUV but some glitches

I love the vehicle but have had several issues needing correction (including battery replacement)! I am also wondering why my 100% charge on level 2 is significantly lower than DC Fast Charge at 100%. Nevertheless I really enjoy this car but am also happy I am on a 3 year lease if problems continue.

Solid EV, terrible winter charging, terrible NAV, dangerous self-driv

The biggest problem with this car is that we previously had a Tesla. It's a solid car but Tesla literally does everything better. Tesla best nav, best phone app/key, best charging, best voice controls, best FSD by a mile. Dealer was much nicer than Hyundai, although we went to the Tesla dealer 2x in 4 years. We went to Hyundai 4 times in first 14 months, every time was a mental drain. They couldn't fix the rattling rear hatch and said they rotated the tires when I could prove with pics that the dealer did not...classic slimy dealer experience. The worst is charging, especially the winter charging. The I5 came with 3 years free charging at EA stations, well the closest EA chargers are 15 miles from out house. You get 30 mins free, after that you pay, EA chargers are not reliable, chargers periodically down, connectivity issues, and not many posts average is 4. In the winter time, charging is terrible, basically level 2 charging at an EA 150kw charger in winter time. This was even the case after updated battery charging software...which required a special trip to the dealer, and yes we used pre-conditioning through the NAV. Again, with Tesla, super charging issues...zero, pre-charging actually works winter charging was excellent. If we didn't previously own a Tesla I think we would have given the I5 3-4 stars, but coming out of a tesla to this is a huge step down. I actually call the car the "Worlds Dumbest Smart Car". If you like the Hyundai, don't drive a Y or 3.
