Love it except...

I like the car very much except for the following: 1) very complex = steep learning curve. 2) the car should turn itself off & lock itself when you walk away. 3) Twice the port wouldn't release the charge cable (there is a youtube on this defect). 4) the phone charge pad stopped working for a couple weeks and then mysteriously started charging again.

Great car with some software bugs and ICCU concerns.

I love the design of this car, visually, and the features are great. It seems like the designers thought of almost everything, and they've improved on some major complaints over the model years. My one complaint design wise is the A/C controls. They should be push button and not touch sensitive. They are impossible to change while driving. Thankfully the voice assistant does work for this. Unfortunately, the ICCU fears are real. Tons of complaints online, and it seems for most of them Hyundai has handled it poorly, making this a scary car to take on road trips. Recent software updates have broken "hey Siri" in carplay, and there is another carplay bug the affects auto day time notifications between the head unit and the iPhone. Regen settings constantly reset to defaults every time the car is powered on which is annoying as hell. The premium audio system is good enough for me, but hardly sounds premium. The bluelink apps works, but could be designed a bit better. Otherwise, this car looks amazing, is super fun to drive, and has some amazing features. Acceleration is a blast. I love the digital mirror, and I don't know if I could ever live without the heads up display. The software has ton of customization and runs pretty smoothly sans bugs. The regen steering paddle shifters are a great idea. Charging is super fast. In short, I love the design of this car. There is a little bit of room for improvement in future models in terms of features, some room for improvement in software design and stability, and a lot of room for improvement in reputation and handling of ICCU defects, though I personally have not been affected. It really shouldn't take much effort for this car to be nearly perfect. Just fix a few software bugs and "features." Maybe the next refresh will do it.

Love my spaceship!

After taking my friends and family on short and long trips, this car has the nickname "Spaceship". It's look, and especially interior feel won it the reputation of being smooth and super comfortable and roomy.

Hyundai EV

Very pleased with my vehicle overall. One complaint is that rear window wipers don’t work—in a new car!

It's a lemon

Upon delivery, a rattle needed to addressed. That was 4 days. I was told bolts were loose. Two tires have been replaced - instantly deflated so car had up be towed. Three weeks ago, the ICCU failed. It's now at the dealer for "several months" waiting for the part on backorder. I've had the car 4 months, 1000 miles. I'm paying for an EV car I don't have (small, powerless gas car as a loaner). Very disappointed. I want a replacement or, to cancel the lease. Other issues - no button to open the trunk (from inside) or button to close it. Cannot program to open the garage doors. Basic features, I thought (on my last 3 cars).

Leased 6 mo ago - New

I love this car. I like that it is small enough to fit on the street, but also big enough to throw in my friend's bike in the back if I give her a lift. I like how it accelerates fast and handles well. All the safety features are amazing. My critiques are: I'm 6'2" so I have slouch a bit in order to see cars behind me in the rear view mirror, even after adjusting the seat. I've had some issues with charging as well, maybe because there's no guidebook on how to adjust app settings for different charing companies and stations. For example, I've had no problem charing at EVGo stations, but can never seem to get a charge started with ChargePoint or ChargeLab stations. As a new owner of an EV, it's a steep learning curve with charging and I've only been able to learn through trial and error.

The infotainment controls can be frustrating, but I find this vehicle almost flawless otherwise.

Good, but...

I love the car--hate the manufacturer. It's a good, all-purpose car: comfortable, user-friendly and fast charging. Unfortunately, it's plagued with problems that have been going on for four years--in the 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 models and Hyundai can't, or won't, fix them: rear hatch rattle, false proximity warnings, speed oscillation and of course the dreaded ICCU failure.

Review of Ioniq5 sel

Overall, I love the vehicle. However there in one very blaring problem in that the climate control panel below the main screen is almost impossible to read in bright sunlight. The lightings highlighting the various settings are way to dim to be able to read in the daylight and require the driver to take their eyes off the road too long to try to adjust things. This is especially dangerous when the windshield needs to be cleared while driving in traffic or during snow or rainfall.

Nice to drive, irritating features

2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 constructed in Georgia. Beautiful car, smooth ride, very roomy, very comfortable, very quiet, and great range in the city (~400mi). This car is overly complicated and there are several minor features that are irritating and ruin the experience. It lacks a carwash mode, requiring a complicated procedure just to get it to stay in neutral. Profiles don’t recognize specific keyfobs and have to be selected every time you start the car. Regen is adjustable but wont stay in one pedal mode after turning off the car. The NACS port is on the passenger side meaning you have to use two stalls at many Tesla superchargers. The Moonroof is to far back to be enjoyed by the driver. Relaxation mode leg rest doesn’t extend far enough to touch the back of my legs. Doors don’t automatically lock when you walk away from the car. 21. The instrument panel prominently displays (GOM)range in big numbers when it should show State of Charge (like a fuel gauge on an ICE vehicle). 25. There is no intermittent wiper setting, only auto. There have been a couple times when the car wont go into Drive or Reverse and has to be restarted. After charging one has to turn off the car and turn it back on to drive. Just okay range on the highway (~200mi). When our agent picked up the car the automatic hatchback was broken and had to be taken back to the dealer to fix.

Comfortable ride but some features could be improved

Overall, my wife and I appreciate the comfortable ride and good handling of the Ioniq 5. It's a great highway car and has excellent range. However, some features could be more refined. For instance, i-pedal mode cannot be set by default. Every time the transmission is shifted, i-pedal has to be turned on again. In our previous car, a 2022 Chevy Bolt EV, i-pedal could be switched on and it would stay on by default. The menus in the infotainment system are cumbersome and often not very intuitive. Again, the Chevy Bolt was better. One example, when using the radio, the steering wheel switch to change radio stations goes to the next available station instead of the next station selected as a favorite. It would be good if it could be set to only go to favorite radio stations. Instead, I have to look at the display, and select favorites, which mean taking my eyes off the road. These are just a few of the things that could be improved in the infotainment system.

We love the car but today when my wife was backing up she heard the dreaded pop. So the tow truck had to come to our house today and get it.

Decent

I loved this vehicle when I first got it, it’s a big upgrade as far as technology and safe driving features compared to my old car. However, within 4 months of driving it, the flaps on the bottom of the car came loose on the highway. When I took it in, they made me pay for the cost of repair even though I am leasing it and it is still under warranty. So, good tech, poor quality and Hyundai making me pay for the repair shows they also don’t stand by the quality.

So far, so good. I do not like the fact that if I would like to use my car as a hotspot for internet use, I must pay for an additional cell service. I have decided not to subscribe to the Verizon service.
