1st EV

So far, I'm loving my new electric car. Especially since gas prices are rising by the week. The gadgets take some getting used to and I need to make sure I know where to find public chargers and have the right apps for them but overall I'm happy with it.

Great Electric Vehicle Hindered By Some Software

This was the first totally electric vehicle that I felt was viable for me in terms of price, range, and convenience. The price wasn't very different from gas vehicle with equivalent size and trim. The average range per charge for me is about 300 miles, but it can be more or less depending on variables like temperature, A/C and accessory use, city vs highway driving, etc. I was worried about charging convenience as there are not many public charging stations in my location, but the vehicle comes with a home charger that you can plug into a standard outlet and use. It's a much slower charge than a station provides, but I've found that just letting it charge overnight or whenever it's just sitting at home is enough that I haven't needed to visit a charging station at all with just typical daily use. One thing I do hate about it is the camera midway down the steering wheel that it uses to watch you and determine if you're paying attention to the road when using the adaptive cruise control. There is no way to turn it off in the settings and it disables the adaptive cruise control if it can't see you or determines that your eyes aren't on the road. It frequently misjudges what I'm looking at and sounds alerts when I use it. I wear eyeglasses and it just can't seem to tell what's going on if I am in anything other than an optimal (and uncomfortable) position. Even after an update that was supposed to improve the issue I still notice no difference in behavior. I strongly dislike the inability to turn off the alerts and having functionality gated behind allowing a camera to watch me. This alone is what stops me from giving a higher review.

Embracing the Learning Curve and Hugging the Road.

This car is freaking fun to drive, lease, and even think about. The Ionic 5SEL has so many fun variables with which to play and study the art of driving - it’s electric, boogie woogie woogie.

Great Value and well engineered

I am very pleased overall with my purchase. The value for the money is excellent. The only minor complaint I've had is the display for climate control is difficult to read due to glare from the sky roof. A lot of thought has gone into the design and Engineering of the vehicle. Having read multiple reviews, Hyundai has fixed customers past complaints. This is the fifth Hyundai I have owned and I've been happy with all of them.

Excellent refresh

Replaced my 2023 Ioniq 5 SEL. The rear wiper was overdue and welcome as was the power passenger seat. The battery is slightly larger and noticeably more efficient.

Love the Car

Really happy with the vehicle. It runs great. Has good distance (as much as my gas burner did). The options and remote operations are great, coupled with the app. Overall, very satisfied.

How to videos

Some of the how to videos are good BUT they don’t tell you that this feature is only available on certain trims. Ie.. interior lights, reverse mirror tilt, forward adjustable driver headrest. Feature that would be nice but not a deal breaker LOVE the car.

Solid performer

Limited trim, solid performer, owned for about three months. Happy to choose full ev over hybrids, rides very smoothly and pretty quietly (without external roof rack, otherwise noisy). Coming from 2009 ford escape, the ioniq has slightly worse visibility and is harder to get in/out of, and feels less roomy inside. Also driving range reduction relative to the escape- especially when considering one should baby the battery at 20% to 90% - is a significant adjustment. Three feature cons: the handles stay out when unlocked which is a flag the vehicle is unlocked to anybody looking by it. It doesn't automatically lock when walking away with the keys. The turn by turn directions is not supported with android auto, only the built in gps system. Despite living in a condo with no on-site charging, I wouldn't trade it in for a hybrid. It makes me smile.

My new 2026 Limited edition AWD Ioniq5

Happy with the vehicle so far. Wish the range can be 350 to 400 miles with one charge. I wish I could keep my 2024's AWD Limited edition's turbine style wheels. I like it more than the current ones. Too much black color for the wheels.

Love the car and range! Paint quality could be better

Love the car and how it rides. Especially the range that it gives at 80% did find some rust spots on the hood of the car and consulted with the dealer but they said it will be an out of pocket expense. Disappointed. The day of purchase the door was misaligned causing the door to strike and jump up to position. Didn’t feel right but overall the car is really nice and the charging time and range is a big factor.

My First EV - Wow!

My Ioniq 5 SEL is pretty darn lovable. Here are things I really like -- Over 300 miles of range. Less than 30 minutes for a full charge at a fast charge station. Zoom, zoom acceleration comparted to my old ICE. Modern safety features that every Boomer needs and should want. Lots of room inside. Some kinks that I'm still working on -- Driver seat comfort setting. Backup collision alert volume level. A final note, why doesn't every Ioniq 5 come with automatically retracting side mirrors and a tonneau cover in the hatchback area? C'mon Hyundai.

First impressions

I purchased a Hyundai Ioniq 5 electric vehicle 30 days ago. I am impressed with its features and smooth quiet ride. I would recommend my dealer, Tamiami Hyundai and my salesman, Emanus Lansiquot.

My Ioniq5

The car's overall performance is very good. However, when looking at some of the details, there is room for improvement. The communication between the app and the vehicle is somewhat slow, although it functions reliably. The car's maneuverability in tight spaces is also not ideal. Compared to other EVs we have driven, this vehicle requires wider turning radiuses, making it more difficult and time-consuming to navigate or exit confined spaces. It often requires multiple back-and-forth adjustments to complete a maneuver. The camera and proximity warning system could be more accurate. The system begins beeping when the vehicle is still relatively far from an object, even after adjusting the warning distance settings. It also continues beeping for some time after the vehicle has moved a safe distance away from the obstacle. This behavior raises concerns about how the vehicle would respond in an actual emergency situation and whether the automatic braking system would intervene appropriately. The driving range continues to surprise us, often showing unexpected increases. While this is encouraging, it also creates some uncertainty. I am concerned that during a long trip, the displayed remaining range could suddenly decrease significantly, potentially affecting trip planning and charging decisions. Overall, the car is very comfortable, quick, and enjoyable to drive. It offers many useful features for both drivers and passengers, making it a highly enjoyable vehicle despite the areas that could be improved.
