I love my car

I leased a 2023 ionic five Limited. I love the car, but there are a few things that I thought were missing. After three years I saw that the new 2026 had fixed most of those issues and that prompted me to purchase a new one after my lease. I'm 6 foot five so it was one of the few EV's that have plenty of room for me plus it has the most quiet and comfortable ride of any of the other cars in its category. I also love the fast charging. My only issues are fairly cosmetic. I wish Hyundai would come out with some better colors, and also allow the car to lock when you walk away. My one criticism is on the driver awareness camera, which I find is a safety issue. I use the cruise control often and because it doesn't recognize my eyes on the road it continuously gives me the annoying tone and eventually turns off the cruise control and start to slow the car down. This is a serious safety issue, especially when I'm driving on the highway at higher speeds. There needs to be a way to deactivate this feature.

2026 Ioniq 5

I was not certain an EV could replace my Xterra(which I love) So, I didn't trade it in. After taking the Ioniq 5 on a 600 mile road trip and back, I am regretting my decision to not trade in the Xterra. With rapid charging stations I found that in some instances, I was taking longer with my convenience stop than the car needed to get to the desired charge level. And the Ioniq has been a joy to drive and own over the last 2 and a half months.

Car built for taller folks

I am 5"2" at most - the steering wheel is a big large for me to comfortably hold - and if I move it to the best position for me, it's sitting on my lap. The steering wheel in our Tucson hybrid is much more comfortable. When I received the vehicle the passenger door handle did not pop out when I opened all the doors and I had to bring it back to be examined, and bring it back another day after the handle was ordered and received to be put on - a lot of time to have a new car in the shop.

Overall a great car, with a few minor annoyances

Overall a great car, and I'm very happy with it. It drives and handles well, with fantastic acceleration. (Cornering isn't as good - it's a heavy car.) Range is good. Fast-charge rates are fantastic. Overnight at-home charging is fantastic. The controls are well-organized. The cruise control and lane-keeping and lane-changing features are a game-changer for my long commute. Plenty of space for my tall family and our stuff. I like how it looks. A few complaints: * The wireless charging pad is nearly useless, because it is slow and it overheats. There needs to be less thickness between the actual coils and the phone - there's too many layers now. And magsafe would be a huge improvement. * The boot-up message with the countdown timer is slow and annoying. 95% of the time it's just me driving, and it doesn't need to wait for me to confirm it. It should be able to tell from which key was used. * The remote start / remote climate features need work, especially for third-party integrations. There's basically no good way to configure the car to turn on the climate at the end of my workday, between the car deciding that it won't do it because it's not on the charger, or limiting how long it runs, or doing it in some sort of low-power mode for third-party integrations. This seems like such a simple idea, and it seems like they tried to make it work, but it just doesn't actually work, in practice.

Ioniq5 Sel 2026

Very good experience so far. Difficult to judge how many miles the charge will take you as it changes by terrain, weather , speed etc . Somehow I didn’t turn off engine after I get off the car multiple times and kept the car unlocked more than I wanted. I wish it has auto shut off and lock after few minutes.

A car with lots of patches, bad dealership and horrible manufacturer

Ioniq has soybased insulation in HVAC system that attracts mice in the ventilating system-- and I received a new car from Brandfon Hyundai with a dead mice. Hyundai motor, dealer, finance could not care less! Never buying Hyundai again.

dont like to have to login to infotainment system every time. interior door lock system doent seem to work, can only lock doors when leaving car using fob.

The best EV on the market for me.

Excellent balance of features for the price. I am extremely happy with the NACS charge port, physical buttons/controls being available, very long range, high efficiency, fast charging, cameras, and all safety features.

Great small suv

We love this car with just a few complaints. Surprisingly roomy especially in the rear seats. Unfortunately the head rests in the back seat except for the middle seat are not adjustable. This is a problem for installing children booster seats. Another annoying problem is software upgrades reset driver preferences for the second designated driver.

Pro and Cons of Hyundai IONIQ SEL 5

Following are the Pros. 1. Love the accleration 2.The Navigation and handling. Cons. 1. The seat belt cuts into the neck. The lowest adjustment is still high. 2. Wish the head room was slight bigger. I hit the roof most of the time I am just 5ft.4" Wish. I wish the seat moves back when I open the door and moves forward when I close.
