Ioniq 5 is almost perfect

I would have liked to give a 4.5 rating but the system doesn't allow. The car has lot of great features but at the same time I feel few things could have been better. Some of the good highlights: 1. Drive quality - very smooth 2. Cabin comfort - spacious and comfy 3. Charging Could have been better: 1. Storage space - Neither the frunk not the trunk space is impressive. I feel the trunk could have been extended by a few meters as it gives a feeling that it has been suddenly cut short. There is no under the mat space as well. The other competitors like Equinox and Tesla has an advantage here. 2. Automatic locking - This unpredictable behavior is a serious problem that puts safety at risk. Even though the car provides the option but it is unreliable and often times we have found the car being left unlocked after we. walk away. 3. Regenerative braking - When driving at level 3 or pedal on freeway, I need to put considerable effort to accelerate.

So far so good.

With almost 3 months of use, so far this has been a much better experience than my previous EV experience with a different manufacturer. Better features, better range, faster charge speeds, overall it is a much better car in every way that counts.

Excellent pickup, handling and comfort

Starting and ending charging is hard. Have to use an app to start, and the car doesnt want to let go of the charging unit when done. Maybe that is the app again. The app is cumbersome. Have to remember passwords. Lowest level Ioniq5 is missing features like side mirrors that turn in when the car is turned off and the trunk doesnt auto close or open. Hope you’re strong because the trunk door is heavy. Car doesn't automatically update software.

Pretty sweet Car

Overall it’s great: good size, range and excellent styling. Very happy with it overall. With a small annoyances: random vibrations of door panels making an infuriating sound, reversed seek or next track button (why the hell did you guys reverse it? Down is next track button when it should be up), and the worst thing of all is the stupid coffee break alarm which has no real logic to it — it comes on every 5 minutes (this is enough to make me look at a different brand next time as it is extremely annoying and distracting.

Handy EV with Tesla charger compatibility

The one thing that made me buy this car, rather than another, was the Tesla charger compatibility. It’s slightly annoying it’s on the right rather than the driver’s side, but that’s still much better than needing an adaptor to charge it.

Multiple charging issues from the factory

The car would be great without factory issues. Car wouldn’t charge. Spent 3 weeks at dealer for them to find issue, part out of stock. Took it home. Still wouldn’t charge on level 2 charger. Back at dealer, told it’s a different part that needs to be replaced and also out of stock. They receive it, install it, but didn’t take the time to check if it fixed the issue. It did not. What should be a great car has instead been a nightmare of incompetence from two dealerships seemingly unable to fix the causeS

I love my 2026 Ioniq 5. It rides smoothly and quietly. I love not having to stop at gas stations. It is remarkably roomy inside with plenty of cargo space. Back seat passengers repeatedly comment about its comfort.

Ioniq review

I mostly love my 2026 Ioniq 5. It is a great drive and charges quickly and mostly comes with the features I want. My two big complaints though are the lack of a child door lock other than the one that also controls the windows by the driver passenger door. Very inconvenient for a parent with a young child to not be able to lock the door with the button on the side of the door. Also, I love the pedal feature and it is my favorite way to drive but it is very annoying. That constantly turns off I have to constantly turn it back on.

It's been about 2 months now and I am still in love with the Ioniq 5 Limited. It has all the features you could ask for and more. Love the lane change cameras and the i-Pedal feature. Thank you Hyundai!

The car has been what we expected it to be. We are enjoying it.

The car is intuitive to drive and could only be improved by adding more features but then the price point would not be as desireable. The only problem I have had is the rear hatch and the doors don't always shut all the way.
