We love our Ioniq 5

After years of not purchasing a vehicle, we made a decision to get a car. After searching what may be the best choice, based on wanting a newer and even newer type of vehicle, we compared several in this size. And decided this vehicle hit the boxes we needed. We are 100% happy with our choice!

Great car

Love everything about it except you should be able to have two driver settings for the front seat and when confirming what profile to use if you miss it you can’t change it while driving which I can’t understand why. My Mazda had both of these options. And lastly for security reasons when unlocking the car you should have an option of just unlocking the driver seat especially since the door handles are a dead give away when the car is unlocked. This has been an option on our most basic cars.

Easy way to move away from ICE

Pleasant car to drive and never had to think too much on when I'll need to charge it next. By having a home charger I have never been at risk of running out of battery while driving around. Car drives very well and excited to see how it will perform this winter. Couple of things to get use to, changing gears, regen baking efficiencies, how to get the car into neutral to go through the carwash.

Electric Shimmed in

This EV was built to act like an old gas car. It's missing many of the fundamental features expected in a modern electric vehicle: settings, schedules, app experience... the list goes on and on. Avoid the built-in system at all costs and just use car play. The charge port is on the wrong side of the car. Every time you change gears or start the car you have to re-select your driver settings. The seats are uncomfortable.

So far, so good...

This is my first electric car. I did a lot of research on reliability and chose the Ioniq 5. So far, this car has not disappointed. My only complaint would be lack of accessories, like dash covers, etc from Hyundai. I've been able to find third party options, but would prefer something made specially by Hyundai.

My new Ioniq 5

It's a very nice car. Lots of tech. Some is quirky. The Lane centering monitor is convinced that I do not keep my eyes on the road. There should be a way of shutting off the beeping. It even has done it when I'm not wearing glasses. The car should lock when I leave it like my other EV does, annoying. The Ipedal should stay on as I left it and not have to be reset . I will turn it off if I want. The fabric in the headliner is very nice looking but delicate. It will catch on even a very tiny hangnail. Lastly, it has a Bose sound system but I question the quality as it lacks good bass. I would buy it again.

Ioniq 5 limited 2026

Generally happy, but having some charging issues that did not exist on my 2023 ioniq 5. charging sometime just stops and give error that car is not connected to charger, when it clearly is still connected. Also sometimes get repeated charing started messages during charges...as many as 20-30 within an hour.

Surprising Quality with Odd Flaws

This vehicle offers a truly unique blend of features that no one else comes close to competing with anywhere near this price point. HUD, V2L (V2H maybe?), and android auto/carplay with 20 min 10-80. Auto unlock of doors on approach but no auto lock on walking away is just plain stupid. Wireless rear view video mirror is also just pretty garbage. You would use it when your rear view is blocked, but guess what that same stuff blocking your view destroys the signal. So... Great engineering choice? Also that damn EULA every... Single... Car start is obnoxious. I bought the car, it's mine. Go away and let me drive it.

Comfortable responsive, Saves 1.8 tons of carbon of pollution annually

Comfortable, Responsive, good milage 3.2 M/kWh. Good ground clearance. Would be really useful if the Hyundai Phone app included the odometer reading at the time the charge started. The info is there - just needs to be shared.

Ioniq 5 2026

Car is an updated version of our 2023 AWD Lim, which we liked despite needing its 12v battery changed three times! The 2026 car , also lim but RWD, handles well and has about 15% better range. Still having difficulties in locking or unlocking car due to? Blue tooth issues. Will be making appointment at dealership to investigate.
