Fun EV - except for all of the recalls and TSBs

The Ioniq 5 has been a fun EV to drive for the last 2 and 1/2 years, having previously owned a Kia Niro EV. I've been disappointed with the range, as the Niro EV has similar range on an older platform. Also, it has been a bit of an annoyance taking the vehicle in for all of the recalls and updates regarding the ICCU. Also, the hatch continues to rattle even after having a TSB performed. Finally, I am still waiting on the free NACS adapter. I received the initial email. However, no follow up email confirmation or follow up to the case (41000096) I submitted for this.

Best car I've ever owned

Its fast, looks amazing, comfortable, and FUN. Its range is excellent, the build quality is great, and overall its just the best car I've ever had. Please keep going with the Retrofuturism look Hyundai!

I can’t go back to ICE

This is my first EV, and I can’t imagine going back. I have saved over $2500 by not paying for gas over the past two years. The map software is a little clunky, and you have to use it if you want to utilize the battery preconditioning feature. It would be nice if that was something you could just turn on. I wish there was a way to retrofit the charge with the NACS plug. It really sucks that I will likely be stuck with the CCS charger for the life of the car.

The car still drives like it is new and has about 25K. The battery can be charged up to 315 miles which is a big plus.

Overall positive experience with 2023 Ioniq 5

Overall the Ioniq 5 experience has been positive. There are a couple issues that I have not been happy about that still plague this model. One being an ICCU issue that has a recall and also the charge port over heating on level 2 charging that was "fixed" by a software update. Other than those issues this car has been a dream and I love driving it. I feel that it is safe for my family of 4 and comfortable.

Great vehicle to own

We still love the ioniq 5 after owning it for 3 years. It has great range, very spacious and comfortable and comes with many features standard such as highway driving assist. The vehicle-to-load feature has been a lifesaver during powercuts to at least keep our fridge running, and also on camping trips. The 800V architecture with super fast charging makes long road trips a breeze.

Interesting but would have expected a little better for the price

Like the overall style, console, handling, but many small details and features are not aligned with the high starting price. Like lack of back wipers, back of the car has no air fans, doors joints are not staying in place, no trunk cover..... For 30 years, I never had to manually wipe/clean the rear window on any of my cars expect that one....... The real pain is the number of recalls for trying to fix in vain, the same thing (ICCU). The battery range also started to fall very quickly, not sure if it is real or not.... (210 miles at 80% for the long range battery)

Love My Ioniq 5

Perfect for me in town. Distance trips are something else. Michelin Tires are a HUGE costly problem. Ate a new set of tires with only 7500 miles and a towing bill. No help from Hyundai or Michelin.

Like the way it rides. Comfortable. Bought it for it being electric. Wish it had a fast charger. Still getting use to how it jerks a little when I first touch the accelorator.

I plan on holding onto my 2023 ioniq 5 SEL AWD for as long as possible, and even when I am forced to ultimately buy a new car I currently plan on getting another Ioniq 5.

Comfortable, reliable and lots of fun!

I have owned by IONIC 5 for 2.5 years and really enjoy it. it is quiet, fast and very comfortable for short or long drives. We drive from Florida to Indiana twice a year and have never had an issue. Loved the 2 years of complimentary super charging with Electrify America! Continue to use it when we take long trips. Highly recommend the car, love electric and won't go back to gas. Fantastic warranty as well.

OK for small city trips.

Fun to drive but hard to learn the driver assistance features as the images on the wheel are too small to see in bright sunlight. Too low to drive on the dirt roads leading to my country house. Will trade for a Scout as soon as it is offered for sale. Promised an adapter for Tesla chargers by the end of May, but no action to date.

We liked the car but now it is dead and we are being treated horribly.

The car performed great until May. Then it died right when my son fell on a hike and had broken his back. He had to wait with a broken back until the car got jumped by AAA before he could be taken to the emergency room. Then the local dealer in San Luis Obispo found nothing wrong it (and we had to pay for this failed diagnosis). A few weeks later it died again (main battery failure) and has been at our local San Diego dealer for three weeks and we have no loaner. We are paying for a lease but have no car and are getting no response from Hyundai. Things happen to cars, but this corporate "customer service" is completely unreasonable and highly disappointing. We are incredibly frustrated by what this is costing us. The local dealer says they are trying but "headquarters" is not approving a loaner.

Drives well, but some maddening features

Drivetrain is lovely. Comfortable seating position marred by visibility of large dash through steering wheel forces wheel to be higher than desired. Brake regeneration not remembered after shutdown is an annoyance. Central locking system is absurdly complicated, requiring behavioral changes. Rear hatch lid rattle has required 4 repairs so far. Lumbar bladders deflate in minutes, requiring constant readjustment.
