SEL Still Nice, But Not So Premium Anymore

This car (2026 Ioniq 5 SEL) replaces a 2023 Ioniq 5 SEL that was totaled (no injuries thankfully). This car has some improvements over the previous model including NACS port charging at (some) TESLA Superchargers, 84 Kwh battery, rear window washer/wiper, and wireless Apple CarPlay. But it no longer has interior accent lights, folding side mirrors or heated seats. Also, not a fan of the darker gray interior. And the ICCU and 12v battery reliability are still a concern. So while I like the car, it paradoxically feels more like an EV econobox and a lot less premium.

A real star!

Amazing vehicle. We bought the LTD trim, which has every bell and whistle known to man. It may take a lifetime, however, to learn about all of them. Some folks want an EV for fuel economy, but don't overlook the silken smooth drive you get with this car. So quiet, so relaxed, so responsive. I never want to go back to a gas fueled vehicle! Very comfortable, great visibility, fabulous acceleration. You can't go wrong with this car!!!

Fast and fun to drive!

This is my first electric vehicle and I love it. We’ve taken it on long trips and appreciate the 350 mile range. It’s fun to drive and super fast! I don’t miss pumping gas.

2026 Ioniq 5 SEL best car I have ever owned

So far everything about the car is very positive. Only negative would be the Sirius XM not displaying the current song title without pushing multiple buttons. Bluetooth audio does it, so not sure why Sirius XM doesn't.

Great car - great value

I’ve been really happy with the IONIQ 5 so far. The price (especially after rebates) makes it feel like a steal. The range is way more than my previous car and I don't have any more 'range anxiety'. It's also got great quality of life features. Wireless android auto has made a huge difference for me.

Under 200 miles and already broke - unsafe to drive and dealership has no appointments to fix for a month. Waste of money.

2026 Ioniq 5 SE review

I ended up purchasing 2026 Ioniq 5 SE after test driving 6 other EV manufacturers. It had the best reviews. There were a few surprises that came with it: - The backseat air vents are on the floor. The carpets tend to block them so I ended up adding sponges to force the carpet from blocking the airvents. - There is no cargo area cover to hide your valuables. Found on amazon an aftermarket vendors who sold it. But overall, these are minor issues that I ended up solving on my own.

Great car so far.

I’m a long time Subaru owner. I was tired of hearing about head gasket leaks, cars with 60,000 miles burning a quart of oil in 7500 miles and being told that’s normal, etc…. I made the jump to electric and wish I had done it sooner. I was worried about the range, but 99%of what I do is less than 100 miles a day and the car performs flawlessly. That said there are dislikes. For 2026 they dropped a lot of features on the SEL AWD. All should have radiant panels and heated steering wheels. The car also came with the worst wiper blades I have seen. Really, why cheap out there. Compared to Subaru/toyota the Ioniq 5 is much quieter, still they could do better with wind noise. Seats are ok, but I like the crosstrek seats much better. The fast charge time sold the car over competitors, but that is only important on trips and so far all I have needed is the level 2 charger. I don’t care what brand you get, you are going to love an EV once you get it.
