Love the quiet drive and smooth ride

Enjoy the vehicle with the exception of snapping noise in rear hatch compartment. Dealer wants $300 to find and fix the noise even though I have the extended warrantee and bought a second Hundai several months ago.

A Great Year with My Hyundai Ioniq 5

I have driven my car for 13 months now, trouble free. During this time, I've consistently charged the battery to well over 300 miles, helping remove range anxiety. It's big enough to handle four or five adults--and cargo, but doesn't feel huge on the road. The motor is powerful, and the vehicle cruises along nearly silently. I carry musical gear when I play with my Blues band, and the rear cargo area swallows it up without a thought.

The vehicle is comfortable, quiet and performs well

It’s not so much about the car,It’s more about the infrastructure that supports EV’S. I would not feel comfortable driving cross country because of the lack of charging stations,that’s why I give it four stars.

Great car - would make a few changes

The feel of a luxury car with the practicality of a family car. The only thing I'd like different is 1) more charging stations, and 2) more range. I thought with a range of 303 miles I could drive from Los Angeles to Monterey - it's about 300 miles away. However, I only got halfway before the charge was way low. It took me a long time, wasted time, driving around to places that apps said had chargers, where the chargers were either broken, or in use, or the slow type. What should have been a 5 hour drive turned into an 8 hour drive for me. So I won't take the IONIQ traveling on the road anymore. I take my plug-in Prius instead, where I can get up to Monterey on about 3/4 of a tank of gas. Other than that, I get lots of compliments on the style, and the beautiful teal color. I would prefer to have a rear window wiper - and I think the rear compartment cover should have come with the car. The only thing that bugs me about the car is the headrest - it's way too tilted forward. With my Prius I was able to take the headrest off and turn it around backwards and it's perfect. With the IONIQ, because of the shape of the headrest, I can't turn it around. It's just not comfortable for me in any position I've tried. And just a side-note... when we bought the car we expected to get tax benefits from buying an electric vehicle, but we got none, because the vehicle was made outside the USA. And the salesman never told us that. We talked all about the great tax rebate but he never knew, or never told us, that we didn't qualify for it with the IONIQ.

Very comfortable car. Spacious. Decent energy efficiency.

A nice fairly priced car. A comfortable ride. Decent electric efficiency. Only average range, especially in winter. No major issues, and only a few minor ones: lack of a rear windshield wiper, and some difficult to fathom features (eg, battery preconditioning): it would have been nice to be able to choose some optikkns (eg fold-down mirrors and possibly sun roof) without buying a full upgrade. But overall, we are pleased with our car.

Cheaply made and unreliable.

When it worked I enjoyed driving the car, but I had nothing but problems in the short time I had it. One morning, I woke up to find a huge crack extending nearly all the way across the windshield. I never heard any impact from a rock, nor did I see any chip that explained the huge crack that spontaneously formed. Replacing it cost $2500. Next, we got into a minor accident when a pickup truck backed into the front left fender. That was a $7500 repair; extremely costly given the slow speed of the impact. After a hot day, the double sided tape holding on a piece of plastic trim melted, causing the trim to peel away from the body. Finally, after about 10 months and 9000 miles, the ICCU failed. When I had the car towed to the dealer, they couldn't give me an ETA on the repair because the part was backordered. In the end, it took two months. I opened a lemon law case and had Hyundai buy back the car.

Hyundai ioniq 5 been good and reliable.

One of the most disappointing thing with this vehicle is the Insurance and registration. Due to these reasons I don think I can get another EV. This has raised my payment 3 times what it was suppose to be.

Worry About Future of Electric Cars

With all the backward people in the United States, and the people who support Mr. Trump and their propensity towards violence, I find myself concerned about the safety of using the electric charging stations. I fear that these miscreants will vandalize electric charging stations and given their isolation from other businesses, I know that electric drivers may be putting themselves in harms way. Until the political appointment in the United States changes, I don’t think I will be taking my electric vehicle on any long trips.

I love this car! The drive, ride and features, extremely pleased.

I've only found one other car that I liked better than this one. I am very pleased with roominess comfort, the effortless driving and power, the quiet cabin at any speed and the visibility from the inside. I consider this car's features as well designed and thought out. So far neither my wife or I have found anything we do not like about this car.

Great mix of performance and comfort but lacking reliability

Have been driving the car for a year now. Charging is great, range is great, performance and comfort are great… but it’s been in the shop more than my 2009 Jetta with 180k miles. Several recalls, peeling window trim, an alignment, and now it’s been in the shop for 3 weeks due to not charging the 12 volt battery. Overall, great car but reliability is its downfall.

Road-trip worthy with good range and fast charging, roomy, quiet

Fast charging and good range make this good for road trips. Roomy, quiet, great car. I would personally simplify some things (electric door handles and charging lid are unnecessary and a little annoying) and change some of the controls. Adaptive cruise control is very good, self-steering just OK. Battery conditioning (pre-heating) is necessary for fast charging when below about 70 degrees, and it works but is clunky to use (they may have simplified on newer models). I'd get base level 2WD for range and lower price.

Best car I've ever driven

You won't understand how great it is to drive an EV until you try one. I owed a BMW X3 and after much research, decided to replace it with a 2024 Ioniq 5. The difference is incredible. I have a charger in my garage and never pay for gas. I have solar panels and never pay for electricity. So I basically drive the car for free. The pickup is amazing. There is zero maintenance. The technology is fantastic. I don't have any regrets switching over to this EV from my BMW.
