Overall, everything I expected and more

On the whole, this car has been excellent. It lived up to my expectations for charging speeds, range on long drives, and comfort. The performance in terms of pickup speed or acceleration, and torque exceeded my expectations. While I have given the vehicle the highest star rating, there are some areas that need improvement: back windshield wiper(!); turning radius; EASIER BATTERY PRECONDITIONING; better tires (Michelin cross-climates) and windshield wipers; USB-C ports; better side vision on the headlights. Wouldn’t complain about a front camera either

Nice Idea But No

I was excited to get an electric car that was not a Tesla. I have been a loyal Hyundai driver for 15 years and always thought their cars were good quality. Until this one. A full charge can get you a couple hours outside of Charlotte, precisely to where there are limited, at best, charging stations, so I could never really leave my city with this vehicle. I could deal with all of that until the vehicle STOPPED WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT. Maintaining this vehicle is incredibly inconvenient for all parties - myself and the tow truck driver. When it died A SECOND TIME and it took 3 hours to get it on a flatbed, I knew I was done. Other thoughtful features NOT available in this expensive car: - no rear windsheild wiper. WHY THO??? - trunk opens so low that everyone hits their head on it. - the car door made a distracting sticking sound since the day I bought it brand new. I knew going into this that an electric car would be a bit more work, but this car was the worst purchasing decision I've ever made and the lack of any actual resolution to my problems (like the car not working) was staggering. That i had to show my car died 4 times before any action is taken is crazy. I am disappointed by Hyundai's response especially after they had me go through weeks of background just to tell me they can't do anything about my BRAND NEW NON-FUNCTIONING CAR. I tell everyone I can how much I hate this car.

Would be the perfect vehicle if not for a few significant misses

It's a great car (pickup, AWD, snow mode etc.), does its job well (battery retention, fast charge etc.), premium well designed interiors, very roomy rear seating, the 110V outlet is a huge plus. But it does come with significant issues like recurrent 12V battery problems, smaller trunk, tiny frunk, not a very reliable ACC & Lane assist. The software is barely updated (except for some new soothing sounds, which I don't care). Annnnnnnd it doesn't have rear wiper.

The car is great, it is just a couple of little things.

The car drives well and is very comfortable. The little things I was referring to is the fact that doesn't have a back windshield wiper and there doesn't seem to be a consensus on charging % for level 2. I appreciate that there have been several recalls to get the car running/charging correctly. I worry that if this keeps going and it's out of warranty how much money this will cost to keep getting the improvements to the car. Another concern was the value of the car severely dropped just pulling it out of the sales lot.

Due to battery issues car is i operable and in shop

The vehicle wirked excellent until 19 months when it started having battery problems. It has been in the shop 4 different times in 4 months for a total of 105 days and counting. I have no faith when vehicle is returned it will be fixed.

Fun to drive. A couple of flaws however, there is a rattling in the hatch that drives me crazy. The 12 volt battery had to be replaced after 2 years. Hyundai is supposed to be giving out free Tesla Super Charger adapters, still no word. Any update?

Great car

The Ioniq 5 is the nicest car I've ever had. It's pleasant to drive and comfortable to sit in. The charging speed is fast compared to other EVs, and the range is good, too. The only minor issues we've had have been with the impact sensors occasionally alarming when there's nothing wrong.

Great car, well designed, but nagging recalls

Very nicely done interiors and styling. Tech also is above grade for the price point. Big plus point is the high visibility. Only thing I miss is the rear wiper, which has been added to newer models. Bluelink and remote key entry is also very convenient.

Nice Car, A Few Things Could Be Better

The car is comfortable and economical, but has a few things that weren't thought out very well. It could be so much better if they tweaked the software to provide a few more useful features. The ICCU problem is a constant worry and Hyundai is not being forthcoming on what the rate of failure is or on actually fixing the problem with a new ICCU.

A Very Good Car With a Few Flaws

Overall a very good car. There a couple of problems. The most glaring problem is no rear windshield wiper. In a heavy rainstorm (I live and drive in Oregon) on the freeway the cameras are blind, the side mirrors are blind and without a wiper you can't see out the back window. Some of the electronics are not consistent (I can't always lock the car by pushing on the handle), and the blue tooth Apple Play does not always stay connected causing me to have to wire it in.

Fun and Amazing EV!

I love the Ioniq 5 (save for the recent failed ICCU that took THREE months to repair) and how it drives. My favorite car I've ever driven, and I will never go back to ICE cars again.
