It's fine!

I enjoy driving my car, but there's been several issues with it. In the beginning, a fuse broke and I didnt have air conditioning for weeks on Texas, which wasn't great. I frequently have to reboot the entertainment screen as it lags or locks up. The AC settings also don't save, and the internal/external air setting changes on its own throughout the drive.

Fantastic, except...

I would have given it a 5-star rating, except for these problems: For the last 3 months the 12-volt battery has been losing its charge, to the point where the car is dead and requires a jump to start. I have had it to the dealership in Escondido 3 times, each for about 10 days. They believe a circuit board behind the dashboard is the culprit, but it's on back order. Turning radius is fall short of what it could/should be.

Opening the trunk is the most annoying thing I've ever

The inability to add your phone to have basic features like in most other EVs was very odd. The doors don't always auto open when the key is near. The trunk opening takes forever and the sound is so annoying - even more my elderly mom she thought it was slow!

Perfect car but not reliable

Love the car and features (fast charging, range, space, V2L) but why can't Hyundai fix the reliability problems?! I can't own a car that could leave me stranded. The rattle in the tailgate is also annoying and has been a problem with these for years - I don't see why they can't fix it.

Bought my lease!

I quite like my 2024 Hyundai Ioniq5 SEL. I had been a long time and confirmed anti car person until I got a new job a couple of years ago that required me to commute to work daily. I was really only looking for a car that was dependable and not too expensive. I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the Ioniq and decided to lease one. When my lease expired, I extended as long as I could then decided to buy an ioniq5. I expected to buy existing leased car but was shocked and disappointed to discover that the buyout was more than 10k higher than the blue book value. I went to a dealership and bought the same exact car-miles, model, color etc. for the fair market value. So confusing why Hyundai would make me go through the bother and loose a Hyundai financing client(I financed the new car through another bank).

IONIQ 5 the perfect commuter’s car

I drive this car primarily to work about one hour away 3 days a week. From the programmable remote start, comfortable seats, roomy interior and all that XM radio and apple car play has to offer. It’s a nice oasis to go to to and from work. Its peppiness is great for errands around town. Great acceleration and relaxed steering gets you in and out of traffic effortlessly. So fun to drive!

Too many quirks and faults

EV battery was apparently bad when I bought it (from the Hyundai dealer in San Jose). It took Hyundai 4 months (and 2 batteries) to get the car "fixed". The current EV battery appears to only have about 80% of published charge level. It is at Hyundai again for evaluation. My Ioniq has/had the rear hatch rattle problem that is addressed by a TSB. They say that is fixed. The front radar is adjusted too low so anything other than a flat driveway will trigger an collision alarm. The car has a quirk where occasionally (6 times in the 1 month I have had it) it will apply emergency braking if a car passes my on the left when on the highway. Very unnerving (and somewhat unsafe). So far Hyundai Dublin says "we can't recreate the problem.

Never owned this car but it saved my life

I received a review request from Hyundai even though I never officially owned a 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Limited, but I felt compelled to share my experience because that vehicle may have saved my life. In November 2023, just before Thanksgiving, my husband and I were traveling home from Michigan. We were nearly stopped in traffic on I-75 near Lima, Ohio after being on the road for several hours when we were rear-ended by a vehicle traveling around 60 mph In Stopped traffic I was behind a SEMI . The impact was severe enough to spin our Ioniq 5 across the freeway and we landed in the grass almost on the other side of the interstate . Despite the violence of the crash, we were able to walk away without serious injuries. I firmly believe Hyundai’s engineering, safety systems, and vehicle structure played a major role in protecting us that day. What makes this experience even more meaningful is that it happened during one of the most difficult periods of my life, the first year after losing my mother to cervical and ovarian cancer. A situation that could have become another tragedy instead ended with my family making it home safely. I’ve owned three Hyundai Sonatas and currently drive a 2018 Genesis G80. Throughout the years, Hyundai vehicles have treated me well, but this experience gave me a completely different level of respect for the company. When people talk about safety ratings, they often sound like numbers on paper. For me, those ratings became reality. Thank you to the engineers, designers, and safety teams who helped create a vehicle capable of protecting occupants during such a serious collision. Because of that work, my husband and I are still here today.

Good bargain for performance and features

THe car has performed over the 1 1/2 years I've owned it. A solid city car and decent on the highway. THe only blemish was a motor replacement at 2000 miles.

Lost features that were part of the 2023 model

I love this car overall. Hyundai, however, took features away that used to be part of the 2023 edition of this car including cup holders for rear seat passengers. They didn't lower the price, they just removed features. How disappointing.

Solid car, overall very good, but some details need attention.

I love this car. But the ICCU failed. I’ve had a difficult time with wheels shimmying. The rear door rattles. These should be easily taken care of, but somehow they weren’t.
